Hot Spot: SWALLOWTAIL

While on my way home from the hardware store this weekend, I happened to pass by a very enticing window display. After stopping short of the post-it on the door that read, "Be back in a Jiff," I found myself deciding that I had found my new favorite store (without even stepping foot inside!)

Swallowtail is on Polk Street in the Russian Hill district of San Francisco. The store was able to tie in many of my favorite elements, and actually added a few new ones! I can never get enough of chandeliers, so of course I was wooed by the crystals hanging from the ceiling. But interestingly, this store made some funky colored vintage furniture and animal skins look extremeley classy!

I really liked how the store put different pieces of furniture and accessories together, mixing modern pillows and picture frames with vintage chairs, or vice versa. I think this is definitely the place to shop if you are looking for that vintage-modern look that is in right now.

I was probably the most inspired by the animal hide rugs. If you've got hardwood floors and want to make your vintage couch look a little bit more modern, it is a must-have.

Chairs are probably my favorite thing right now. And it doesn't hurt that I am in the market for a few of them for my livingroom. The lucite and reupholstered vintage chairs are so eye-catching and can really be the focus of the room in any apartment.
Thanks for the photos, Yelp!
